I am really pleased that you are considering Northstowe Sixth Form for your next step. Choosing your Post 16 place of study is an important decision, you need to find the place where you feel that you fit the best.
We will be a medium sized provision when we are full. Our specialist Sixth Form Centre is built for 400 students, 200 in each year group. In 2024, we have started with 50 students in Year 12. Whilst we hope that many of our current students will stay with us, our Sixth Form is open to any student who fulfils the entrance requirements for the courses they wish to study, and we look forward to welcoming students from beyond our main school catchment area.
Whilst we are a new provision in Cambridgeshire, our recruitment over the last 4 years, has ensured that we have included many Sixth Form specialist teachers and three ex-Head of Sixth Forms. Being part of a large Trust, Meridian Trust, has also meant that we have kept up to date with developments at Post 16, receiving regular training and updates from exam boards and Sixth Form specialists. So, whilst Sixth Form in Northstowe is new, for many staff, this is what they have spent most of their career delivering.
We pride ourselves on knowing our students in all Meridian Trust schools, and this will be at the heart of your Sixth Form experience. Knowledgeable and experienced subject teachers, who go the extra mile for you in your lessons and a pastoral team who know you and understand that the Sixth Form is hard, as is choosing the next step post 16. We will be there to guide and support you, as well as celebrate your successes, and there will be many. We are here for you and want to know you as an individual, we know that one size does not fit all. We want to see you achieve your dreams and it is our job to help you get there.
We are a Sixth Form with high standards. Our standard entry requirements are 5 GCSE subjects at a minimum of a Grade 5 or equivalent including Maths and English. Individual course requirements are set out in the various subject statements which can be seen on this website. These specific entry requirements are set to help guide your choices and ensure you are on the appropriate courses to enable you to achieve your full potential.
Whilst we are part of an all through campus, the Sixth Form experience will differ from the main school experience. With purpose-built facilities, separate eating, and study spaces and with most of your lessons taught in the Sixth Form block, you will feel like a young adult. However, being on an all through campus also gives lots of opportunities for leadership experiences, developing skills that will be useful when you are applying for university, apprenticeships or work.
